Hide an extension if 'Show all filename extensions' active

Hi there, I'm new here so apologies if this is in the wrong subforum.

I'm trying to use Hazel to hide .savedSearch filename extensions in one specific folder on my computer.

'Show all filename extensions' is selected in my Finder prefs because in all other instances I want file extensions showing.

It seems that the 'Toggle extension' > 'hidden' rule in Hazel doesn't seem to do anything if this preference is set. Is there any workaround that anyone knows of?

Thanks!

The Finder preference does what it says. If it didn't show the extension for a file that was set not to show it, then it would be no different than if the setting wasn't there at all.

Instead of setting a system-wide preference, you would need to make sure the files whose extensions you want visible are set to have them visible and likewise, for those where you don't want to see the extensions, you set those to be hidden.
