PDFs sorted into two different locations Fri Feb 20, 2026 4:38 am • by Corpaton
Hi all,

I’m experiencing a small localisation issue on my Mac using Swedish language settings.

The rule is very rudimentary:
monitor the Downloads folder and sort files into subfolders based on the “Kind” attribute.

However, PDFs are being sorted arbitrarily into either:
PDF Documents
or
PDF-dokument

The expected behaviour is that the PDF's are sorted into:
PDF dokument (Swedish, without a dash)

For context:
I recently upgraded to Hazel 6.1.2 and this behaviour existed prior to 6.1.2.

I’m hoping this may already be resolved in 6.1.2, but wanted to check whether this is a known localisation issue.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks!

Have you checked the Kind of these files? Do they differ in Finder?

"Kind of these files" - do you mean Information on the pdf file in Finder? It says 'PDF-dokument' in Finder for both pdf files, one pdf ends sorted in 'PDF-dokument' and the other in 'PDF document'.

Tried sorting again:
The folder PDF-dokument gets pdf (in American/British) coded with 'macOS Version 26.3 (bygge 25D125) Quartz PDFContext'
The folder PDF document gets pdf (in Swedish) coded with PDPreStamp v3.3.

Hope this helps...

It might be best to use the extension instead of Kind in this case.
