"Contents contain" feature does not work for me anymore

Hey all, one part of my work routine is that I scan all letters and invoices I get and let Hazel do the job of archiving everything in the right folders. However, this feature does not work anymore reliably. I have created a new rule and have added some word in "contents contain" which should be the trigger of the rule. But even though everything is stated correctly, Hazel does not recognize it.

This applies for older rules and also for new rules.

Does anyone have the same problem? Are there any ideas what to do?

Please go through the troubleshooting guide here: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-tro ... ing-guide/

In particular, the preview should help shed some light on things.

Thanks for your reply. I have done that already. The log files say the following:

)}
2024-10-26 11:47:33.891 hazelworker[812] File type not supported: {(
"public.item",
"public.folder",
"public.directory"

All files in this folder are pdf, however. Hence, it should work fine.

I am a Hazel user for around 10 years. I have never encountered problems before. This problem exists for like 6 months or so.

Can you report on how things looked in the preview and rule status?

Rule status
I have set up a rule with "Contents contain "Erholungsgebiet" --> Move to folder "Rodung".

Preview Status
If I do a preview of the file, it tells me "Rule does not match". However, the PDF clearly has the word in it and I also copied the word out of the pdf and inserted it, in order to make sure that it is really the same word.

I would love to upload a picture. But it seems that this is not possible in this forum, right?

If you don't have a file sharing service of your own, you can use imgur.com

Or if you email in a file and your rule showing this problem, I can take a look at it here.

BTW, what version of Hazel are you running?

Sorry for my late reply and thank you for your answer.

I am running Hazel 6. Before, I was running Hazel 5.1.1. It did not work there either.

Here are the pics of the rule and the part of the pdf, Hazel should work on.

I'm wondering if there is some invisible text in either your pattern or the document. Can you email in to support with the rule exported and the document? Make sure to redact any sensitive info.

I've hit a similar issue where rules which had worked previously when processing bills are no longer recognizing the account numbers which I have pasted into the rule.

This seems to have stopped all of my rules from working.

I'm using version 5.1. I see that there is a version 5.2, is there a way to download that, or do I have to upgrade to version 6.0?

Thanks,

I found the link to be able to download the older versions and was able to update to version 5.3.6 and now my rules seem to be running again.

Cheers,

Mike
